"Gymnastic" Shelly Hollins "Cheap Pop Superstar" Jeff Duane

Shelly Hollins and Jeff Duane.  One of my main characters, and one of my favorite supporting characters, in terms of the ewrestling world, and most of my writing ventures.  Fairly similar, and also vastly different, they're sharing a page here, anyway.  Just for the fun of having a "two for one" page.

Jeff Duane' a six foot four inch two hundred eighty five pound African American wrestling superstar who hails from Atlanta, Georgia.  He began wrestling in southern independent leagues before coming into the wide spread IWA (Imaginary Wrestling Organization) in the early nineties.  He managed to win three regional titles there in his several month stay.  Later, along with fellow IWA stalemates Ace Tanke, Wilde and Rebecca Tanke, Shelly Hollins, and Step Govanna, they decided that the high match rate and low pay necessitated them taking a step back in order to take a step forward, and several months later, along with the three Tankes and Shelly, they showed up in a hot new independent league known as IWCW.  Duane and the others struggled and only Ace achieved any immediate impact; in fact, Ace went to the finals in the IWCW World title tournament and nearly won.

Duane was undeterred by his lack of federation dominance, and he made sure that his friends didn't give up on it either.  In fact, his tag team partner Wilde Tanke, and he won the US tag team titles, roughly the same time Wilde came across the major leagues of professional wrestling at the time, the AFW (Association of Fantasy Wrestlers).  Wilde managed to get in the league, and two months later, brought Duane.  For the record, the two were known as Stylin.

At this point, the IWCW had broken up into two leagues, the IWCW and the NAWA (North American Wrestling Alliance) due to managerial tension and miscommunication in the IWCW headquarters.  Duane and Wilde had JUST won the US tag team titles on the first ever NAWA card, and Duane was allowed to keep the titles in IWCW and got to pick a new partner to boot.  He choose Step Govanna, who changed his name to Nate Govanna upon entering the federation, and the two went back under their old team name, Style.  Not long after (before Jeff had joined the AFW as well) the IWCW merged with the long running independent federation, New Wave Wrestling, to form the NWICW, or New Wave International Championship Wrestling.  Duane and Nate won the first ever NWICW US tag team titles.

One night, Jeff Duane faced a mystery opponent in NAWA, who turned out to be a debuting wrestler, "The Rebel" Mike D.  Mike managed to upset Duane, and the two were faced with the prospect of a rematch at an NWICW pay per view.  Duane objected to the fact that the match would be an extreme type match, which clearly favored the Rebel, and decided to go to the AFW.  Mike D also decided to go to the AFW, and won the Masters title there in his first match, beating Sid for the title.  Duane followed, and in his first match against the Rebel Mike D at the AFW six month anniversary pay per view, won the Master's title away from The Rebel.

Duane caught the attention of the Amber Knight, and the two decided to form a tag team.  The Black Knights were still together at the creation of this page   I guess.  Duane has won the Masters title twice, and AK is a two time former United States champion.

Jeff Duane is a quiet, polite man in his late twenties.  He trained under Ace Tanke and Harry Hollins as a teen ager, and also helped train Wilde and Rebecca Tanke.  He's also a founding member of the Brotherhood, which is probably the most popular stable in the history of the Association of Fantasy Wrestlers.  Wilde and his then tag team partner, Maximus_Ordicus proved to be a dominant tag team by holding between them, the world tag team title, the US title (AK's), and the first ever light heavyweight title (Wilde's) all at one time.  Duane and the Knight beat Ordicus and Wilde the first two times the two teams encountered each other, and in their first two singles matches, AK beat Max by pinfall.  However, Scouts soon came back to get a hard fought win over BK, and several months later, Max, then a member of Suicidal Ones and the World champion, defeated Knight.

The Brotherhood bounced around in the AFW until it shut down, and Duane has been relatively quiet since then.

After bouncing around from one failed wrestling federation to another, with mostly inactivity in between, and occasionally appearing in a supporting role to Wilde or Rebecca Tanke, Jeff Duane is once again trying his luck with a franchise federation:  North Winchester Championship Wrestling.  He managed to get quite a good deal of success there, too!  His current title tally in NWCW is at the bottom of this page.  After his CAL World tag team title reign ended, he was allegedly injured by Jerrick Thomas, and put out of action with a broken arm.

Cut forward a little later.  After a brief stint in NWC South, Jeff Duane is again inactive.  One can only wonder where he'll show up next!

Recent Duane appearance!  He'd changed quite a bit, although the how's and why's are still a mystery, it could be said this is a meaner, darker Duane, although he's still no where near to returning to wrestling.

April 2004 - Recent Duane apperances include a win over flash in the pan former wrestler Ex (wrestling under the name Excitement) on a recent TIW house card.  House card details are included on The TIW Easter day show. Duane won with the unlikely assistance of Nightwalker.

Notes - Served as a referee and manager in the past.  Co ventured with Wilde in a series of rarely documented business ventures between their time wrestling.  Has a fierce rivalry, and fairly close friendship - with Wilde's former girlfriend Moose.  Mother to Cid Davidson.  Prefers big words in an attempt to project a certain image and air for herself - and not afraid to admit it when confronted.

Her original cartoon form was designed as a multipath (possessing several mental abilities, although none to an overwhelming degree).

Tied with Wilde as my oldest character of my own invention still around.  I'd had maybe a couple weak attempts at characters before her, or less.  She and Wilde came off like magic.  To me, at least.  A longtime associate to Wilde Tanke in the ewrestling world, Shelly is rather verbose, unlike Wilde.  The two share a childhood, and both possess a calm, fairly cool demeanor.

This page is mainly to cover her in the ewrestling world, of course, where she has one son, the product of a probably ill advised lapse of judgment - and a relationship with Sunbright, one of the many alter ego's of Lightning.  Lightning, as of this update, is currently residing with his mother and Wilde, as well as Wilde's daughter Amanda.

Shelly managed Wilde early on as a part of Aceside, a stable of Wilde's family and friends.  It was headed up by Wilde's uncle, Ace.  It also included Jeff Duane and Wilde's sister Rebecca, along with Shelly.  They feuded with the "new World Order" of Mike D's IWCW to kickstart Wilde's career.  It's believed she had a schoolgirl crush on one or a few of the older wrestlers in her early days.

(My first ever efederation, Mike D's IWCW - not to be confused with the more famous federations of the same initials)

She's managed Wilde a few times, as have Rebecca and Moose.  Shelly has even managed Rebecca on a few occasions.  Not long after Rebecca beat her poor younger brother Wilde in three and a half minutes (Mike D's IWCW), Shelly managed to defeat Rebecca on an AFW card!  She more recently defeated Rebecca Tanke in another solo match on TIW's first card.

Sadly, this was after Rebecca had turned on Wilde.

Some of Shelly's other highlights included a very surreal, almost sexual feud with Moose, Wilde's girlfriend at the time.  The two are often referred to as "rivals and best friends. . ."  As you'll see in many of Shelly's pieces, she tends to use big words, and tends to keep a tight lid on her emotions.  Not to the point of being unemotional, just to the point of giving off the vibe of a "natural leader."

September 6th news - She's currently managing Wise Ass Wilde Tanke and Penelope Skene, who are the current CAL world tag team champions.  She's also helping Penelope Skene develop a foot hold into the wonderful world of grade B movies.
April 28, 2004. Currently, Shelly Hollins is a minority owner of Chaos Wrestling, along with TIW commisioner Aaron Reil, who recently ended up with the stock formerly belonging to Innovative Wrestling Alliance's former tag team Z and F.
Shelly is also Larger than Life's Chief Executive Officer. LtL being the new version of the classic stable, lead by Larger than Life founder Apollo Carrington, along with "Wise Ass" Wilde Tanke and Flare.

Check out the BWWa and NAW/ TIW sections for her most current supporting role storylines.
